| Monthly meetings are usually held on the
2nd Tuesday of the month at 2 pm
in the Conoco Room above the Library in Northgate LN11 0LY
For speakers see below
At monthly meetings, Group
Leaders inform
the member of the latest details or changes relevant to their group(s) and news of special Events
and Trips are given out and posted on the notice boards for people
to add their names to the lists. A speaker then addresses the meeting on a topic of interest.
Any information from Neighbouring U3As (including combined events) is publicised, along with opportunities that arise from The Association of East Midland U3As and the National U3A - Third Age Trust. The magazine,
U3A News is distributed to members at the monthly meetings.
It is at the monthly meetings that new members usually pay their subscription (cheque to "Louth U3A" for £10 ) for the year to the Membership Secretary Julie Cooper. (tel 600806). In November or December, Julie sends out renewal forms for existing members to complete and send back with a cheque for £10 and a stamped addressed envelope so that their new membership card can be sent to them.
The Secretary prepares a Notice Folder each month with the latest correspondence from the Association of East Midland U3As and the National U3A - Third Age Trust. Each month this is on the table in the kitchen-corner of the main room so that members have access to all the information.
The national magazine, U3A News is distributed to members at the monthly meeting. Copies of the April 2010 issue, number 90 were available for members at the June meeting.
CLOSING DATE FOR MATERIAL FOR NEXT EDITION OF NEWSLETTER is Saturday, 25th September.
Please send material to Newsletter Editor, Derek Harding newsletter1.10@louthu3a.org.uk by email and
give or send hard copies to Alan Hayward.

Christmas Event is booked for 12 noon - 4 pm on 22nd December at the Fore Seasons Restaurant at the Louth Golf Club
The University of the Third Age is non– political and dedicated to the furtherance of interests and knowledge. It is customary to contribute 30p toward refreshments where group meetings are held in people's homes.
Shared transport to outside events is encouraged, but please pay towards the travel costs with a convention of £1 for journeys of less than 15 miles and £2 for longer journeys.
The ethos of the U3A is self help, so if you are not a member, why
not come along and find out what it is all about.
The Louth U3A membership year
is the calendar year. The annual subscription to join the
Louth U3A is currently £10 per person which gives access to
all the groups. Members are requested to re-new their membership before 31st January. All subscriptions should be paid by cheque made payable to "Louth U3A" and given (or sent ) to Julie Cooper (membership.10@louthu3a.org.uk) WITH A COMPLETED RENEWAL SLIP. Anyone not having paid by the second week of April 2010 will cease to be a member and hence will not be permitted to participate in any of the Louth U3A groups and activities.
A capitation of £3.50 is paid from each subscription by the treasurer to the national U3A body, the Third Age Trust. The 2010 and 2011 subscriptions remain at £10 per person.
If you wish to join for the first time, just come to the next monthly meeting
and introduce yourself (or ask to be introduced) to the Membership Secretary Julie Cooper - membership.10@louthu3a.org.uk
Payment is by cheque only.

Following the talk in April 2010 by
Carol Heidschuster, Works Manager and Clericus Fabricae at Lincoln Cathedral,
a donation was given as a thank you for her presentation.
This has gone to “Adopt a Stone’ on the west front of the Cathedral.
The idea is that by adopting an existing stone we will help towards the costs of replacing damaged stones. |
